Mary Lou Ayers

August 2, 1934 – November 3, 2021

On November 3, 2021, Mary Lou Ayers passed away at the age of 87.

Mary was the mother of two sons.  However many people considered Mary their surrogate mother.  When Mary’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn’t exist.  It was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked.  But even by the standards of the era, Mary was as exceptional wife and mother.  She cared deeply for her family and neighbors.  She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was.  She was always the first to offer help.  She regularly brought meals and comfort to the home of sick neighbors.  And she always ensured that everyone who crossed her threshold was welcome.

She is survived by her husband Harold of 69 years, her two sons Michael “Mike” and Kenneth “Ken” Ayers, and four grandchildren Nikki, Betsy, Nicholas and Kelsey.

Visitation will be Saturday November 13, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

A Graveside Service will be Saturday November 13, 2021 at 12:30 PM at the Mt. Union Baptist Church Cemetery
