Virginia Read Thompson Shockley

Virginia Read Thompson Shockley, age 96, died Monday March 15, 2021.

Virginia, a native to Allen County was born on May 25, 1924 to the late Loren Nicholas Thompson and Nannie Mills Read Thompson. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Frank Edward Shockley, one son Brent Edward Shockley, and a sister Jurhee Thompson Minnix. Virginia enjoyed golfing, traveling, and cooking. She was a longtime member of the Scottsville-Allen County Historical Society, a lifetime member of the Scottsville First United Methodist Church, and was awarded a lifetime membership at the Scottsville Country Club.

She is survived by one daughter Kim Shockley of Scottsville, three nieces Vicki Minnix Warren (Carlisle), Marilyn Eaton-Thomas (Neil), and Vana Shockley Vincent (Perry), one nephew Dr. Alben Shockley (Joanna), five great nephews, and two great great nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday March 17, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the T. W. Crow and Son Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be Thursday March 18, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the T. W. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Kentucky Department of the Blind, Scottsville First United Methodist Church, and the Scottsville-Allen County Historical Society.
