Temple Taylor Ward, age 85, died Friday May 23, 2025 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.
He was born in Kelso, TN on December 23, 1939 to the late William Lee Ward and Vina Lee Morehead Ward. Temple attended grade school at Kelso and then attended and graduated from Fayetteville High School. He then attended and graduated Xray and Laboratory school in Nashville, TN. He came to Scottsville, Ky to work at Allen County War Memorial Hospital in 1957 and met his future wife Carolyn Perkins, who worked as a candy striper. Temple worked at many jobs through the years, road crew, farmer, salesman, assistant manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken. But his true calling in life was working in the lab, which he did for over 50 years. He was proud to work for Drs. Halcomb and Oliver, Dr. Lee Carter and Linda Stovall, APRN. He also worked at Lafayette Hospital, Hartsville Hospital and TVA Hartsville Nuclear Plant site. He made many friends at those places and maintained many of those relationships for years. He loved his adopted home town of Scottsville and served on the Scottsville City Council, (thereafter referred to affectionately as the Mayor by many), served as a Scout leader and supported Little League as well as Allen County Patriot teams, especially basketball and football. He was a big UK fan, enjoying watching games with family and church friends. Although he was raised a Cumberland Presbyterian, he attended Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church for many years and had many dear friends there. He loved to travel and saw much of the U. S. He often mentioned the trip he got to take to the Mayo Clinic arranged by Dr. Carter. He loved a good meal especially enjoyed with friends. He was so proud of his grandchildren and attended many games, events and celebrations to support them. Temple was a hard worker, a devoted son, a supportive father, a loyal friend and loved a good laugh with friends, family and coworkers.
He is survived by his daughter Lesa Watts and her husband Ronnie, two sons; Taylor Ward and his wife Tracy and Cory Ward, six grandchildren; Dani Ward, Jack Ward, Chase Ward and his wife Macayla, Alex Ward, Macy Ward, and Mattie Ward, dear friend, Patty Cornwell, two sister-in-laws Georgia Ward and Pamela Costello and husband Darrell and brother-in-law Richard Perkins and wife Melba, niece, Renea’ Laredo and husband Saul, and nephews; Jeff Costello and wife Karen and Wesley Costello and wife Leigh. Temple was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Perkins Ward, parents, brother Bobby Ward and niece, Leighanne Brechin, her husband Mark survives.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Medical Center at Scottsville, The Medical Center at Bowling Green, and care giver Lucille Payne.
