Rob H. Cline (Robert Harris Cline) passed away on October 26, 2026, at Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care.
Rob, the son of Harris and Lois Cline, was born on April 27, 1942, in Mount Union, Scottsville, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Linda W. Cline; two sons and their families: Robert Harris Cline, Jr., and his wife, Natalie, and their two sons, Harrison and Collin; and JoeDan Cline and his wife, Laura, and their two children, Sawyer and Hadley. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patty Hogue.
Rob was so proud of his family and his four grandchildren, and he never missed an opportunity to brag about them.
Rob graduated from Allen County High School in 1960 and Western Kentucky State College in 1965. After earning his bachelor's degree, he returned to Allen County High School, where he taught for 27 years. During that time, he also served as an assistant and then became the head basketball coach. Alongside Tommy Long, he served as an assistant football coach for Allen County's first football team under head coach Jim Myers.
Rob retired from teaching in 1992, the same year his son Robbie graduated from high school. His years in education brought him some of his fondest memories and lifelong friendships. Whenever he encountered a former student, he would greet them with his familiar words, "You are one of mine," before sharing a few stories from the past.
During his retirement from teaching, from 1992 to 2002, Rob and Tommy Long spent their time farming, cooking steaks for the Cattlemen's Association, and drinking coffee. They could often be found at the local coffee shop, telling tall tales and enjoying the company of friends.
In 2002, Rob began a new chapter in his life. After much thought, encouragement from family and friends, and prayer with Danny Patrick, Rob decided to run for Mayor of Scottsville. Little did he know that this decision would lead to some of the best years of his life.
With the tremendous guidance and support of City Clerk Gale Davis, city employees, and colleagues, Rob served as mayor of Scottsville for 16 cherished years. He took great pride in serving his community and the people who made it special.
Following a brief illness in 2018, Rob retired from the mayor's office in 2019. Even in retirement, he continued to hold Scottsville and Allen County close to his heart. Among his greatest honors was being recognized as a Wall of Fame Hometown Hero.
Scottsville was more than just a place Rob loved. It was the place he called home, a community he cherished, and a place he held forever dear to his heart.
