Ralph Wilson

October 14, 1923 — August 3, 2016

RALPH EMERSON WILSON age 92 of Knoxville, TN died peacefully at his home August 3, 2016. He is now in Heaven with Marie, his beloved wife of 62 years.

Ralph was born October 14, 1923 in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Western Kentucky University where he met Marie. He spent most of his career in the steel industry and retired form Kentucky Electric Steel Company as a Regional Sales Representative.  He served in WWII in the Army’s 3 rd Division and 4 th Armored Tank Division under General Patton. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic services in a combat zone.  He was a faithful  member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the Karns Lions Club for over 50 years. He so enjoyed the friendship of police officers, Sheila Palmer, Butch Russell, Steve Lane, Bernie Lyon and Chris Allison.

Ralph will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, caring friend and a godly man. Preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Dolpha; brothers, Jerry and Roger; sisters, Ruth Burden and Wilma Wilson. Survived by his children, Cindy (Gary) Underwood and Ralph (Patti) Wilson. His family legacy includes 7 grandchildren, Jeremy (Holly), Matt, Kevin and Abbie Underwood, Alex and Aaron Wilson and Jordan (Brad) Genshiemer and great-granddaughter, Bryce Genshiemer. Ralph’s family would like to thank special friends Mike and Angie Roberts, Doris Hubbard, Dee Kearney, Donna Pyle, Paul Sharp and John Price for all their love and care.

His family will receive friends 4-6 pm Saturday at Weaver’s Chapel with a Celebration of Ralph’s life to follow at 6 pm with his friend, Rev. Rob Hammond officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Christian Academy of Knoxville, TN in honor of Ralph E. Wilson or to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1005 Erwin Rd., Scottsville, KY 42164.

Family and friends will meet at 1:45 pm Sunday at New Hope Cemetery, 2510 Meador Port Oliver Rd., Hwy. 1533, Scottsville, KY 42164 for a 2 pm graveside service.  Condolences may be left at www.weaverfuneralservces.com . Arrangements by Weaver Funeral Home. Burial under the direction of the T.W. Crow and Son Funeral Home.
