Jennifer Carter Emery

Jennifer Carter Emery, of Scottsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at Greenview Hospital on September 24, 2026. She was born on October 31, 1947, in Scottsville, and throughout her life remained closely connected to the community that shaped her and that she, in turn, served with devotion.

Jennifer built a life marked by work, faith, and service. She was co-owner of Scottsville Chrysler, originally Carter Motor Co., and was also co-owner of Carter Reality and Auction, remembered by its familiar phrase, “We sell the Earth.” In addition to her business life, she served as a substitute teacher for the Allen County Scottsville School System, where she also helped present with Jr. Achievement. In each role, she shared her time and abilities in ways that touched both individuals and the wider community.

Her faith was an enduring part of her life. Jennifer was a member of Scottsville First United Methodist Church, where she faithfully played the pipe organ for years. She also served as past president of United Methodist Women. Her commitment to community extended further through her active involvement with the Scottsville and Allen County YMCA, where she served on the board in its early years. These efforts reflected a life lived with generosity, dedication, and a sincere desire to help others.

Above all, Jennifer will be remembered by those who knew and loved her most. She is survived by her husband, John Emery; her children, Kane Emery, Holly Francis and her husband Mark, and Brad Emery and his wife Amanda; and her sister, Joan Carter Comfort and her husband Mark. She also leaves her grandchildren, John Mark Francis and his wife Nikki, Alex Francis and her husband Mark, Andrew Anderson, Bryson Bonds, and Kylee Emery. In addition, she is lovingly remembered by her nieces, Em, Jill, and Caitlan. Each of them carries forward the memory of her love, her steady presence, and the example she set through her life.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Carter.

Jennifer Carter Emery leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and meaningful service. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

There will be a time of visitation Saturday September 26, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and continue Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday September 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home with a committal service at Crescent Hill Cemetery to follow.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital in Jennifer's memory instead of flowers.
