Ernest Carlston Pardue, Jr., affectionately known as “Mutt,” passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. He was born on May 23, 1935.
Mutt lived a life marked by devotion to his family and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was a farmer, and his years of work reflected a lasting commitment to his love of the outdoors. He also served his country in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that spoke to his sense of duty. Those who knew him will remember his interesting dry humor, a quality that brought laughter and character to the many lives he touched. He loved hunting and fishing, and he found great enjoyment in time spent outdoors. For 25 years, he and his wife of almost 70 years wintered at Lake Okeechobee, a tradition that became a treasured part of his life and his families.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Pardue; his daughters, Susan Carter and Laura Spencer and husband Mike Zachek, his son, Ernest Pardue and wife, Beth; his daughter-in-law, Sherry Pardue. He also leaves behind a beloved circle of grandchildren: Ben Spencer and wife, Lindsay; Paige Jordan and husband, Kyle; Laura Catherine Wilkins and husband, Harrison; Olivia Howard and husband, Ryan; Jon Spencer and wife, Lesley; Parker Carter and wife, Ashley; and Emma Pardue, and 12 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. His family was a great source of pride and happiness throughout his life, and his memory will continue to live on through them and through the generations that follow.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Carlston Pardue Sr.; his mother, Charlie Wilson Downing Pardue; his son, Chris Pardue; and his brother, Gary Wilson Pardue.
