Doris June Read

Doris June Read, (Bema) beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away January 13th 2023 with her daughter by her side in Lexington, KY. 

We find peace in her passing knowing she was a devoted follower of Christ. She was an active member of her church for most of her life and continued to seek meaning and direction from God's word throughout. An avid sewer, knitter, quilter and crocheter she made beautiful art, though never on a Sunday, no matter how often her family told her God wouldn't think of her craft as work. 

She was born May 24, 1929 to her parents, the late Gardner Foster and Luna Polly Foster (Conner). An only child she enjoyed spending time with her cousins and learned how to quickly become friends with others, building life-long friendships from an early age.

On March 2, 1949, June married, Harry Payne Read of Scottsville and the two owned and operated many businesses along with raising their two children, David Wyatt Read, who precedes her in death, and Karen Read Nall. They were founding members of White Plains Baptist Christ and active members of their community. Some time after the death of her husband, June moved to Berea, Kentucky to be closer to her daughter and joined Silver Creek Baptist Church where she remained a member, even after she was no longer able to attend in person. 

She is survived by her daughter, Karen, granddaughter, Kamilla Olsen Gilfedder (Scott) and grandsons Darron Read (Ashley) & Dillon Read (Miranda). She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.

Visitation will be Thursday January 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Scottsville, KY.

Funeral Services will be Thursday the 19^th at 1:00 PM at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Crescent Hill Cemetery
