Donald Lee Ward

Donald Lee Ward, age 71, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 18, 2026 at The Medical Center of Scottsville following a courageous battle with a long-term illness. 

He was born Thursday, October 28, 1954 in Maine to the late Ike Ward and Lorraine (Theiault) Marks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Jack Jay Marks and his siblings: Christine Ward, Frances Ward, and Karen Ann Ward.

Affectionately known as Ducky to many, he was a Mr. Fix it. He worked hard with his hands to build a life that he was proud of. One of his greatest achievements was being named a Certified Commercial Frame Carpenter by Associated Contractors of America; working loyally for Hardaway Construction Corporation of Tennessee. In addition, he helped with Camp Courageous in Scottsville and was a big part of the livestock community in the area.

Ducky was referred to as a quiet leader where he led by example in small but mighty acts of kindness and generosity. Above all of the accomplishments and roles he held, he was most proud of his family where he was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His memories will be cherished by his daughter, Rachel Mooney; his beloved granddaughter, Arrow; his siblings, Donna Ward, Debbie Marks Witter, Richard Marks, Edward Marks, Janie Eafrati, and Billy Ward; a host of nieces and nephews and other family survive.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at T.W. Crow & Son Funeral Home followed by burial in New Buck Creek Cemetery beside his church, North Star Community Church. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
