David Christopher Cross, 86, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family.
David was born on October 12, 1939, in Magog, Quebec, Canada, to David Robert Cross and Flora Cross. In 1952, his family moved to the United States, where he graduated from high school in Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1957.
Following graduation, David proudly served his adopted country in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961, stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. His years of military service reflected the patriotism, discipline, and quiet strength that would define his life.
Throughout his career, David excelled in sales, working for companies including Addressograph, Multigraph, and Marathon Oil. Of all his professional endeavors, the one closest to his heart was owning and operating a dairy farm, a dream that brought him and his family to Scottsville, Kentucky. He later concluded his career at GE/AO Smith in Scottsville.
Retirement did not slow David down. He continued working through his landscape maintenance business, taking pride in caring for the beauty of others' properties. The golf course at Barren River Lake State Resort Park held a special place in David's heart. There, he generously volunteered his time and created lasting memories playing countless rounds of golf with friends.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Taylor Cross; his daughter, Sheila Perry and her husband, Ralph Perry, of Chowchilla, California; his son, Adam Cross and his wife, Karena Cross, of Jacksonville, Florida; and his son, Ian Cross and his wife, Jennifer Cross, of League City, Texas. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Megan Conlin and her husband, Thomas; David Perry and his wife, Brooke; Katie Cross Carroll and her husband, Jordon; Brandon Cross; and Madison Cross. He was also blessed with six treasured great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A faithful follower of Christ, David was a devoted member of Scottsville Baptist Church. His faith guided his life, and he found great purpose in serving both his church and his community.
David will be remembered for his strong work ethic, gentle spirit, willingness to lend a helping hand, and deep love for his family. Whether tending the farm, caring for the land, serving others, or spending time with those he loved, he lived a life marked by humility, integrity, and quiet kindness. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched and, most especially, in the family he loved so deeply.
Funeral service information will be announced by the family.
