Billie Frances Pitchford Coots Hatcher

October 26, 1929 – February 5, 2017

Billie Pitchford Coots Hatcher passed away February 5, 2017, at  
Hospice in Bowling Green, KY.

She was born on October 26, 1929,  to the late Robert B. Pitchford,  
Sr., and Maggie Jewell Cliburn Pitchford. She was a life-long member  
and active supporter of the Scottsville Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of  
28 years, Neil Coots, in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her  
brother, Robert B. Pitchford, Jr., in 1986, and her sister-in-law  
Roberta Pitchford in 1991.

Billie was the former Publisher of The Citizen-Times newspaper in  
Scottsville. During her lifetime, she served as photographer,  
contributing writer and Managing Editor. Her thoughtful guidance of  
The Citizen-Times over the four decades of her tenure saw many  
positive improvements in technology, circulation and revenue.

During her long and active lifetime, she was involved in local  
Southern Gospel quartets, square dancing and several community  
outreach efforts. She was intensely patriotic, and was an ardent  
sports fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball team.

She was a friend to all who knew her, and her joyous and generous  
personality will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her nephews: Robert B. Pitchford, III (Carolyn),  
Fred Coots (Debbie), Ed Coots (Pam) and Gary Coots (Kandy), and many  
special family friends.

Visitation will begin at T.W Crow and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 8  
at 1 pm, and continuing until 10:30 am. Thursday, February 9. Her  
funeral will be at the Scottsville Baptist Church at 11:00 am, with  
burial to follow at Crescent Hill Cemetery.
