Benny Lane Martin, age 72, died March 3, 2026 at home in Shelbyville, TN.
Born March 28, 1953 in Scottsville, KY, he was the son of the late Lloyd Thomas Martin and Lois Spencer Martin. Preceding him in death are his sisters; Wanda Martin, Judy Buchanon, Amanda Faye Rosado, and Willena Donahue.
He was an avid sports enthusiast. Anything with an engine or a ball intrigued him. He was an owner of various “muscle cars” through-out the years which drove his enthusiasm for car engines and speed. However, his main passion was playing baseball and softball. He was a generational baseball fan of the San Francisco Giants. His most cherished sports memories were traveling with his family to various baseball stadiums watching the Giants play and being able to play softball with his brother and nephews. Benny spent most of employment career working in Nashville, TN., with Mid-South Aluminum. He was an expert tradesman and craftsman. After retiring and leaving Nashville he spent the remainder of his life in Normandy, TN. That is where his roots grew deeper in his faith and his pace with life slowed. He cherished the rural life and the tranquility, slowness, and peace it brought him.
He is survived by two sisters, JoAnn Greenup and Dorothy Miller (Jerry), his brother Tommy Martin and several nieces and nephews.
